Center Lane Campers

Everyone (I hope!) on this site knows that slower traffic is supposed to keep right and the left lane is only used for passing. But what about the center lane? Until recently, I did the painful commute from Chapel Hill to Cary down I-40 and often found myself camping out in the center lane. With all of the on-ramps, I was constantly moving over from the right lane to the center lane to allow oncoming traffic to merge onto the highway. Or I was changing to the center lane to pass people who believe you are supposed to start slowing for an off-ramp approximately a mile before the exit. So, There I found myself, camping in the center lane.
What are YOUR thoughts on center lane campers? Let me know in the comments below!

I am usually in the center lane unless passing. Gives me a choice of at least two escape lanes in the event of crash ahead.

I'm with Mike, my bug are large trucks in the center lane, particularly when there is more than one in a row. Vision, congestion are made worse, all it takes is one nervous driver who sits in the left lane to fearful to pass or sit behind resulting in line of frustrated drivers who start to do stupid things. I am not sure if it is still around but in Canada Trucks can't drive on Sunday's or certain roads in peak times. Be great if that came here and included middle lane convoys.
